1.1 Personal Information
When you use OKAY, we may collect the following personal information:
- Name: Your display name for identification within groups
- Phone Number: Used for emergency contact purposes (optional)
- Email Address: If you choose to sign in with Apple ID
- Apple ID: Used for authentication via Sign in with Apple
- iCloud User Identifier: A unique identifier provided by Apple for CloudKit synchronization
1.2 Location Data
With your explicit permission, we may collect:
- Real-time Location: Your current GPS coordinates when you send a status update
- Location Sharing: Location data is only collected when you explicitly choose to share your location with your group
Note: Location tracking is OPTIONAL. You can use all core features of OKAY without sharing your location.
1.3 Status Updates
We collect and store:
- Check-in Status: Your OKAY/HELP status updates
- Timestamps: When status updates were sent
- Group Membership: Information about which groups you belong to
- Message Content: Optional messages attached to status updates
1.4 Technical Information
We automatically collect:
- Device Information: Device type, operating system version
- Push Notification Tokens: For sending status notifications
- App Usage Data: Crash reports and performance metrics (anonymous)
3. Data Storage and Security
3.1 iCloud Storage
OKAY uses Apple CloudKit for data storage:
- All data is stored in your personal iCloud account
- Data is encrypted in transit and at rest
- We do NOT store your data on our own servers
- You maintain full control over your iCloud data
3.2 Data Sharing via CloudKit Sharing
When you invite members to a group:
- Group data is shared via CloudKit Shared Zones
- Only invited members can access shared group data
- You control who has access to your groups
- You can revoke access at any time by removing members
3.3 Security Measures
We implement industry-standard security measures:
- End-to-End Encryption: Data encrypted during transmission
- Secure Authentication: Sign in with Apple for secure access
- Access Controls: Only authorized group members can view shared data
- No Third-Party Access: We never sell or share your data with third parties
4. Data Retention
4.1 Active Account Data
- Group data is retained as long as you remain a member
- Check-in history is retained for 30 days (configurable)
- Deleted groups are permanently removed from CloudKit
4.2 Account Deletion
When you delete your account or uninstall the app:
- Your personal data is removed from our systems
- Groups you created will be deleted
- Your membership in other groups will be revoked
- Data stored in your iCloud remains until you manually delete it
6. Children's Privacy
OKAY is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately, and we will delete such information.
